Perinatal Mental Health Leads

Dr Michael Yousif 

Dr Michael Yousif is consultant psychiatrist in the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Psychological Medicine Service. Most of his clinical work is based in the maternity service in the John Radcliffe Hospital Women’s Centre. Dr Yousif is clinical co-lead of the Thames Valley SCN Perinatal Mental Health Network.

Bryony Gibson 

Bryony has worked as a mental health nurse and manager in the NHS since 1984 and worked with an interest in perinatal mental health since 1992 an area about which she has remained passionate. An RMN by background she has worked as a ward sister with responsibility for a small (now closed) MBU, a CPN in the community and since 2012 as perinatal service manager developing perinatal mental health services for Berkshire. Berkshire were successful in Wave 1 of the Community Service Development Funds which enabled a full perinatal mental health service to be developed across the whole of Berkshire

For the past four years alongside developing services in Berkshire she has a perinatal lead role in Thames Valley and since June 2015 has also co-chaired the Thames Valley Regional Perinatal Mental Health Network. Bryony retired from her service manager role in Berkshire at the end of March 2018 but will continue to work part-time delivering SHaRON (peer support network) into new Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust services and continuing as a Perinatal Lead in the Thames Valley.
