Dementia Friendly GP Practices

In November 2014, TV SCN launched a new scheme inviting local GP Practices to bid for funding which would support them to become ‘dementia friendly’.  Using the King’s Fund Health Centre Assessment tool in the evaluation of the bids, TV SCN awarded three practices as part of the scheme.

These practices had each detailed how they would improve the physical environment of the practice, improve staff awareness and training and improve their own management processes to ensure dementia patient and carers receive the care and attention they require when visiting the practice.

The three successful practices are:

  • Bedford Street Surgery, Milton Keynes
  • John Hampden Surgery, Great Missenden
  • Brill Surgery, Aylesbury

A further scheme was also approved which would raise GP Practice staff awareness and training across all practices in Windsor Ascot and Maidenhead CCG area.

All schemes are also fully supported by Health Education Thames Valley, who have provided additional support and training to each scheme.
