We have received the sad news that Mark Stone, one of our patient leaders for Thames Valley, has sadly passed away from Motor Neurone Disease (MND).
Through the Thames Valley Patient Experience Strategy Group the SCN is part of an important collaboration with the Thames Valley Area Team Nursing Directorate and the Oxford Academic Health Science Network
Along with our colleagues in the Patient Experience Strategy Group, the Strategic Clinical Network will employ a range of methods to involve patients, carers and the public, to seek the range of views of the local population. We provide opportunities to get involved at all levels of our work. This approach allows people to be involved as much or as little as they choose.

We have a model which describes the different levels of being involved/engaged: Involving Patients and Public (PDF)
In conjunction with the Thames Valley Leadership Academy, the Patient Experience Group has developed a leadership programme for Patient Leaders and NHS professionals. Key to this programme is that we have Patient Leaders and NHS professionals learning and developing together; we have piloted the first version of this and are now looking to commission the next phase (February 2015). The hope is that this will then become a network which will, in turn, help the Strategy Group with ideas, advice and delivery of the Strategy and work plans.
Following the first pilot programme, here is the Evaluation Report: Evaluation of patient leadership project report (PDF)
A useful summary can be found in the Patient Leaders Course Case Study (PDF)
