TVSCN maternity team nominated for NICE Award

The Thames Valley Strategic Clinical Network’s perinatal mental health service matrix has been listed as a runner up for a NICE Shared Learning Award.

The award recognises projects that use NICE guidance to transform how services are organised and delivered, and to impact patients, service users, and the wider health system. Shortlisted project teams presented their work at a networking reception, then attended the awards ceremony at the NICE annual conference in Manchester.

Developed by the Thames Valley Strategic Clinical Network maternity network, the online perinatal mental health service matrix is used by maternity, health visiting, IAPT, specialist and non-specialist mental health services across the south east and south west to measure their performance against NICE QS115 quality standards. Services can also compare their performance against others nationally.

Since its launch, the matrix has identified opportunities to:
– identify and provide intervention earlier for women with perinatal mental health problems
– promote informed decision making by women
– promote preventative measures by maternity and health visiting services, to reduce the burden on specialist services
– reduce the impact of perinatal mental health problems on families
– enhance speed of access to treatment.

You can view the team’s NICE blog on the project here. If you would like more information about, or wish to sign up to, the matrix, please contact Rebecca Furlong or Sarah Fishburn.
